Members Fishing4Fun Posted April 17, 2014 Members Posted April 17, 2014 Had a few hours and decided to fish a little this evening. I didn't want to drive very far, so I chose to go to the closest access to my home. Fished the Crenshaw Access using various jigs, grubs, spinners, and cranks. Finally, when I was really considering packing it up, I caught a baby bass. I figured, I'd try one last thing before calling it a night, and put a plastic worm on a jig head. On the drop, the strike seemed magnificent, but probably because I was not expecting what I got. After a few leaps out of the water and decent fight, I was able to land my biggest fish out of this area......ever. I've attached a photo below. Because I believe this site is great, and the forums are informative, I'll share what I did. Black, Lucky Strike 4" plastic worm, on a 1/16 ounce jig head. I was using 6# test, my BPS Graphite Series Rod, and Shimano spinning reel. Handle on the rod is 12" to give you something to size it up against. Here's a photo, and yes, this fish lives to fight another day! Good luck!

Members Fishing4Fun Posted April 18, 2014 Author Members Posted April 18, 2014 Thanks guys, appreciate it. Wish it had been light out, I'm sure the colors would have been great in the sun!
Members Fishing4Fun Posted April 18, 2014 Author Members Posted April 18, 2014 That's the main fishing area at the dam.
Members usmcgrunt Posted April 24, 2014 Members Posted April 24, 2014 I've always done quite well on bass there. I've been going out every Friday afternoon and most Saturday evenings and I've always caught a few. I seem to have the best luck on the main lake side of the fishing docks and I've been catching them on a weightless senko during the daylight and blue or black craws after the sun goes down. The males I've caught are almost always in 2 to 4 feet of water and the few females I've caught are still full of eggs and are hanging back in the (slightly) deeper water.
Members Fishing4Fun Posted April 27, 2014 Author Members Posted April 27, 2014 I made a whoops. It's the Clay Henshaw Access. Where I derived Crenshaw, I have no idea. Sorry folks.
