stuartsx5 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I don't know how it went for everyone else yesterday but for me it was tough. Hit the water about 9:30 and fished till 4:30. With two of us in the boat we came home with 24. All came off brush piles around docks and the bite was mostly light. I was mostly throwing a smoked purple Bass Pro grub and my buddy was throwing the Kalins Wally World with 1/16 jig heads. Lots of boats out but lots of nice people. I tried places yesterday that I had never fished before, even fished the bluffs. Did catch one small male right on the bank in the back of a cove. My boss talked me into trying the P Line on my reels. I like the fact that it has no memory and no twist but it seemed really brittle to me. I usually use Tourney XL from BP. Also broke the tip off one of my poles. Now I have an excuse to buy a new one. Taking my wife next Friday and Saturday. Thinking about going up to Shawnee Bend or PB 2 instead of Roach. Any advice on that? I really need to put her on some fish cause she only gets to go a couple times in the spring. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
rangerman Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Last week at pb2, i took a couple of guys out and we had 3 limits. Only 1 dink off the bank. Started trolling for suspended fish 18 foot over 25-30 foot of water with planer boards. The limits were the best I have seen in a long time. Had several over 14 inches, and an average of 12.5inches. Nothing under 11. As of last week the eggs were real tight yet. However this was last Friday. If you don't find them on the banks pull off and check the creek channels as they are likely suspended.
stuartsx5 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Thanks for the info rangerman. I replied to your post but it must not have posted. I usualy do fish PB 2 or Shawnee Bend this time of year but the Niangua arm has been good to me this year till yesterday. I have never trolled for fish but it looks like fun so I need to try it sometime. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
Goggle-Eyed Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Everyone I talked to today said it was tough (I didm't talk to anyone after 4pm)... this past Thursday was HOT shallow, this week NOTHING. I thought they were on until the next full moon.. Guess NOT. If you caught them today, please post reports! Joe
stuartsx5 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 I have talked to guys that fished Stockton and Table Rock and got the same reports. Guess the weather must of messed with em. Going Friday and Saturday, taking my wife. Hope it is better by then. Lots of fish make momma happy! Earl Stuart fishin is livin
nomolites Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Caught really nice fish trolling a flat in 20 FOW in the morning and pitching sliders just off the bank in the evening. They are ready but were not on beds yet; most of the evening fish were males but some really nice size. Male bass are bedding up everywhere. Fished from below Gravois Mill to the dam area.
WHARFRAT Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I was down all this past week on the BN. It was tough, but you could catch fish. Up until yesterday, you had to fish out from the banks anywhere from 5-7 ft deep in 10-15 feet of water. It was pretty breezy all week long, but the fish seemed to like a slow drop from the 32nd oz jig rather than a 16th or 8th oz jig. Color didn't seem to be much of a factor. Caught fish a variety of ways, larger fish from dock shooting, or fishing right up next to docks in the shaded areas. Cloudy days fish were scattered. We caught good fish everyday, but not as many as we should for this time of year. On Saturday, the fish acted like they wanted to move up in the shallows, but it was inconsistant. Males are getting darker, so I'd say they'll be on the next couple of weeks. The females I cleaned, the eggs were still very bloody, especially the black females. @lozcrappie
