Members CadeWompus Posted April 30, 2014 Members Posted April 30, 2014 I'm gonna be bass fishing this weekend in the Little Sac and I was thinking about fishing around the Aldrich area. I was hoping I might be able to get a heads up on a few things: What is the best ramp to put in at close to Aldrich taking into account the heavy use the ramps are seeing right now? (Hwy 123, High Point, Cedar Ridge) What is the water temp/color like up there right now? Anyone been having any success with bass in that area? Also, I have been hearing about some good fish being caught on the ARig at Stockton within the last couple weeks. Is that still working or is that bite over? Stockton is one of my favorite lakes, but I only make it one weekend a year and I would like to hit the water running! Thanks for you help!!
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 i was there 2 weeks ago, water was gin clear, visability in the main lake was 10-12 feet. maize creek and turkey creek were producing quite a few bass. haven't been able to get a good bite with the a-rig at stockton. I was using shakey head worm, wacky worm, crankbait, and a jig. green pumpkin was the best producing color
9LB Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 the temp should be near;y 60 by the time you head up. The A-Rig is not allowed on Stockton. Green pumpkin Salamanders dipped in chartreues C rigged and shallow cranks will do you just fine. If the water is muddier due to all this rain change to Purple.
Members CadeWompus Posted April 30, 2014 Author Members Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks for the info redsoxwschamp and 9lb. C-Rig, jig, and shallow cranks are all "go to" baits for me, so that sounds promising. I am curious about 9lbs's comment about the A-Rig being illegal on Stockton, though. I was aware of the regulations in Missouri that only allow 3 hooks with the rest being dummies, but never heard of it being outlawed all together. Don't get me wrong, it would make everyone's lives simpler if they did outlaw it...
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 It's not, I chunked it around alittle bit in my last tournament there.
9LB Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I was just kidding about the A Rig. Just not a fan of the concept.
Members CadeWompus Posted May 1, 2014 Author Members Posted May 1, 2014 I understand. Nothing like tying $30 on the end of a line with several bare hooks and dragging it around waiting for it to get hung up. darn thing will catch'em like nothing else at times, though.
Members CadeWompus Posted May 1, 2014 Author Members Posted May 1, 2014 Anyone have any experience with the congestion at the Hwy123 ramp in Aldrich during the weekend? How bad is it?
Bitethis Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Anyone have any experience with the congestion at the Hwy123 ramp in Aldrich during the weekend? How bad is it? Ramp is fine, some people just use the shallow tapering bank to put in if they have 4wd and it is busy, but i have not had to wait more than 15 mins in the last 6 times I have been there with a full parking lot. A-rig bite is slowing down significantly, but it is till there. If you are fishing bucketmouths you may have better luck with a spinnerbait or finess approach. I did have a buddy say he was catching bass in a significant manner using u-vibe worm (6") in junebug last week? Water is clear, mid to high 50s.
