Members Nitro2014
Seems like the last couple of years have been tough predicting the spawn on Stockton with the crazy weather. I hope that doesn't lead to another year of 9 1/2 inch crappie night fishing again this year! I have heard lots of talk lately from friends about the crappie run and figured I would share my findings: April 26- Limit on all males in the shallows. (All minnows) May 3- Limit on mostly females in the shallows. (They bit everything) May 11- Very slow; but managed to hook a few males in the shallows. (Threw everything at them except the kitchen sink) Water surface temp was around 75. I am not sure what the fishing was like during the week days. Maybe you can get where the water stays cooler a little longer and catch a few female stragglers, and/or males guarding the nests. I usually put in at Roark Park Bluff. Good luck. Hunter91
I put in at Mutton Creek Sunday and we kept 20 big crappie (a mix of males and females) and two eyes (16 & 18in ) and also caught and released a ton of small whites, short walleyes and short crappie. All trolling small cranks. water depth varied from 18ft to 40 ft. We were running the cranks at right around 18-20 ft.
