Members jgentile Posted May 18, 2014 Members Posted May 18, 2014 Read this today. Just a little heads up. http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/company-epa-lapses-lead-to-hazards-on-the-eleven-point/article_f9fbcaf6-b469-5706-bd8d-ceade791be08.html
SmallyWally Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Thanks for the article jgentle. THIS is unsettling for all of us. We as the stewards are responsible to make sure our lax officials know that we are on top of this. This is a protected river...........maybe not for a company that pays their way to get around it though. Sad part is a state or federal official will write you up for peeing or dumping a beer can. I would assume that this company has leached out something into the ground, only questions are what and how much. Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-- Mark Twain
jdmidwest Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That is a tricky area, a spill could go in many directions, Jack's Fork, 11 PT, or even Spring River with the goofy Karst in that area. But since they make ethanol, they are probably government subsidized and relaxed in EPA regs. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Mark Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Wowser - sure is scary to think of what could happen. And to think that we trust these companies to always do the right thing to protect our environment (which they don't) and our government to monitor and regulate these companies activities (which they don't). Thanks to the St. Louis Post for putting this company in the spotlight.
