Members Addco Posted May 19, 2014 Members Posted May 19, 2014 Took the kayak out today and floated from Pineville to Mt Shira. Only caught one small large mouth but didn't fish hard, others we asked seemed to be having the same luck. Seemed like most of the people on the river today were fishing, that will change next weekend I am sure. Even seen quite a few guys fly fishing today. My fishing partner learned a hard lesson today as he lost a nice bait casting setup, he will be looking for some rod floats if anyone has a recommendation. Today was my first long float in my new Jackson Cuda 12 kayak, if anyone is looking for a new yak I couldn't be happier with it. Anyway it was a nice day and hope some others also got out and enjoyed the day.
ollie Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Me and a couple of others floated on Sunday as well. We did pretty good on the fishing end of things. We put in at Pineville and went to low water bridge. I caught about 3 dozen or so easy. Biggest was a 16" smallie that was nice and fat! I think the other 2 caught about 2 dozen each as well. We were fishing pretty hard though. Beautiful to be out on the river! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
ScottK Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I got a Cuda 12 this year also, and took my first longer trip in it last weekend on the NFOW. Great boat! (I lost a brand new fly rod outfit though, my fault for not paying attention at a bad time)
