Bass Report 5-20-2014

Fished a couple evenings ago, started about 6 and fished til midnight. Launched at prairie creek and fished between there and Ventris. Caught a lot of bass, all 3 species. They were scattered between the bank and 20' deep on banks leading out of spawning pockets and on secondary points, pea gravel with the occasional large rock. Saw a lot of baitfish activity, I assume it was shad spawning. Also saw a lot of surface activity but I never threw a topwater, should have. A smoke grub caught every fish I boated til dark. After dark I switched to a 1/2oz black spinnerbait and paralleled the same type of banks. Caught several on both baits, no giants, but several in the 2-2 1/2lb range. I never keep count but a dozen or so keepers with lots of nonkeepers mixed in. If I left anything out feel free to ask. Good luck!
