wuteversbitin424 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Went to h hwy bridge this evening. got there about 5ish and wend was blowing right in our face. we were using shrimp and i caught a nice 8-10lb channel and my buddy missed one. crappy thing is i put the cat on a clip stringer cause i left my basket at home and it wallered around enough to pop the clip open i guess cause when i went back to it the stringer was there but no cat and the clip was open. All good though there will be plenty more. it was really slow. still going to be a week or two before its real good i think. the water was still pretty clear. there was one other guy that had two or three when he left but i don't know what he was using but i assume liver or something messy cause every time he rebaited he would go to the water and rinse his hands. Can't wait till they get going more i love catching a mess of cats!! good luck and good fishing!! Kevin
stuartsx5 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I am pretty new to catfishing so this may sound silly. Is there a difference between bait shrimp and just raw shrimp you can buy at the grocery store? Earl Stuart fishin is livin
wuteversbitin424 Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I think so. bait shrimp are whole and i think they throw off easier. the eating shrimp are just tails and are meatier and if you buy the best choice at walmart even though i hate walmart then its a little cheaper i think. i got the small 41-50 shrimp but i think the medium 36-40 is the best.
Bitethis Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 you can get a bag of shrimp at the store for $5...it will work. better than worms in my opinion.
5bites Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Right on. I may snag some this weekend. I'm taking my boys to Lamar lake this weekend. Maybe we can put a cat in the boat.
Bird Watcher Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Right on. I may snag some this weekend. I'm taking my boys to Lamar lake this weekend. Maybe we can put a cat in the boat. We went last weekend and the two 5 year old girls just had a blast catching bluegill. It's a good time to take a kid fishing up there.
5bites Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 That's also a big part of the plan! The bluegill get big and mean there. Thanks for the heads up!
Members Ohai Posted May 30, 2014 Members Posted May 30, 2014 Me and the misses are headed up later on tonight. Hoping the clouds stay without the rain. I've been catching some cats on fellows the past week so I'm hoping I have the same or better luck up at Stockton.
wuteversbitin424 Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Where and on what at fellows ohai? hope you get into them tonight. I've caught a bunch at both but quality at Stockton is. by far better i think. Good luck. Kevin
