Midlake region

Water temps mid 70's

Wind 5 TO 10 and Light RAIN

Depth 14 to 20 feet of water

Bait, Brooder Minnows, XPS Spoon, Keitech swing impact in white, Jigging Rap and Flicker Shad

7am till 1;30pm

water clarity clear 5 to 8 foot vis

Species; Walleye, Stripers, White, Smallmouth, Kentucky's, Crappie, Catfish and Gar

I had a hunch with the south wind brooders would produce walleye so I stopped of at HLS this morning to pick up a pound. I was using them on Pea gravel and Bolder area with nearby brush. My hunch paid off for a total of 5 walleye 3 were keepers the others were at 17 inches.

I was also working a jigging spoon again hopping it off the bottom and it was doing its work on the whites when all the sudden my rod went double bend and line pulling off. My first thought was a hybrid or striper but ended up being my PB smallie 22 inches I kept trying to get a good pic of its tail on the mark but it had other ideas lol did get it at the 21 mark finally and gave up its girt was 15 inches the scale said 7.38lbs ( I really need to make sure its right ) and yes I was informed by multiple text after of what that fish could have been.

I kept working that spoon and hit more whites and hybrids and several more Mammoth smallies another that was 20 inches with a 13.75 inch girth scale said 6.10 on it.

All the bass were spitting up Orange Crayfish all about 2.5inches long. None of the bites today unlike last week were subtle these were solid slam bites. No in hand pictures as I was informed by one person the background would give the spot away lol so here is some action shots.

I don't know what was more fun this morning - getting your play by play from the lake of Jason talking about pole dancing and showing his new "Personal Best" - blend of coffee lol

:nose-pick:

Imagine this finger being the other one...

And yes, we are freaks.

Actually, Scott is the one that asked if you were pole dancing. Then somehow "boots" was brought into the text messages.

Scott's claiming new personal best so I wasn't fishing. All I could brag about was another cup of coffee. That's the best I had at the time. (sad I know)

I blame Joe, you know he can turn a conversation to the weird side and it certainly went there... BTW. Fresh Arabica bean, cinnamon and a touch of Bookers Bourbon so there!

What you accuse Joe of is dead-on. :-)

And for your newfound addiction to quality coffee, I take full credit/responsibility for that also. :=B:

I had the same thought as you guys. The wind destroyed all my favorite point for surface stripers so I trolled around a section of that big island by Rocky Branch. I don't know many other areas on the lake at all which have a gravel bottom. I caught walleye trolling around but couldn't get any keepers. And that was all I caught too. But I didn't spend much time. At 9:30 or so I looked up and saw that big black storm cloud. Was pretty hidden from the wind so when I got out on the water and saw how bad it was I chickened out and scooted back to camp. Where I watched from my trailor how nothing happened. :(

Oh well. Trip wasn't a total bust. Caught 4 striper with the largest measuring 33 inches. All on top water. I tried to post pics but my iphone pics are too large. Could it be the fish???? Hah.

J-doc and feathers, I'm going to keep hounding you guys to take me out fishing with you some day. You guys just seem like a hoot in the boat. I want in the club!

Careful what you wish for. All I'm sayin'....

:secret-laugh:

I can't upload photos from my phone either. A glitch with the forum software I think. Not a matter of photo size because I transfer the photo direct from my Dropbox backup to the forum on my laptop and it works fine.
