Members vuekid Posted June 26, 2014 Members Posted June 26, 2014 anybody been fishing n this area lately? Also what lures to use and what fishes can be caught here?
Robert Haynes Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Whites been surfacing in the evening between monte ne and Hickory creek. Not big schools but still fun especially for kids. They have been a bit picky, I have thrown in the middle of schools and not got bit or short bites. Water has been pretty, calm and fairly clear. Schools are so small that a little wind makes hard to see.
fisherofmen11 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I have observed the same thing but cannot get them to bite. What is the trick?
Feathers and Fins Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 1. never run in the school with the big motor. shut it down at least 100 yards from the school and use your electric to get parallel to the direction they are going 2. Use popper style baits first if they don't take it switch to a small swimbait ive been using the bobby Garland baby shads if they are bigger fish go with a keitech swing impact 3. have a good pair of bino's on the boat and keep an eye on the water for them many times you will see a pattern develop where they want to come up. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members marknsaw Posted June 28, 2014 Members Posted June 28, 2014 trolling cranks has not been very good from 10-30 fow. slip bobbers with minnows has worked for crappie and white bass on structure ( sunken timber ) especially at night. Jigging plastics and spoons on structure and suspended has worked during the mid-day. best bite has been at night on bluffs under lights with live bait. camped last weekend at horseshoe and caught my very first smallie on liver while night fishing for cats. go figure. it's been a bit weird this year.
