gramps50 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Went down Rolls way for the Christening of friend little girl. Have been wanting to checkout Little Prairie lake so after the christening I went by there. Nice looking lake and the eater was very clear. Tried to do a little bank fishing but it appears there's a 3-4' of grass at the bank. Did try throwing over it with some worms rigged weedless. Caught one sunfish, but he was foul hooked. Want to go back & take the boat, ant tips or tricks?
SmallyWally Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Use to catch a lot of cats years ago. You are right, you need a boat to get to the better spots. Lake had a nice collection of fish........but that was a few years ago....so good luck to you. It is a nice lake to fish though!!! WHARFRAT Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Fished there years ago. 20+ at least. Used to catch a lot of small bass fishing around moss pockets on the upper end of the lake. This is about the time of year that we fished. A lot of times we would fish in the evening till past midnight. Not sure if they let you on the lake past dark anymore. @lozcrappie

I think the sign said 4am to 10 pm, it's actually called something like Township Community Lake now according to the signs.
Kelroy Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Towell lake, I believe after the caretaker that was there for years. The moss is always a problem. I like to drag a small Booyah frog around the edges and through the pockets. Don't expect anything big.
Old plug Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I fished it when it was brand new. My wifes family came into the area around Steelville in covered wagons in the early 1800's. They were blacksmiths and one was a baptist preacher and curcuit rider. The last of them ended up settled in Leasburg. We used to go put there to visit a lot when we were first married. that was where my love for the Meramec came from. I used to spend more time on that river than visiting A LOT MORE.
