Planning to get on the river this Thursday (July 3rd). I heard there has been a lot of rain in the area and the USGS gauges confirm. I want to go from Thomasville to Riverton--I have never done Thomasville to Cane Bluff. I believe more rain is in the forecast for Tuesday/Wed. Does anyone know if Thomasville to Cane will be float-able with loaded canoes/kayaks? Thanks!

I crossed at Greer last Monday and the river was low and normal for this time of year. Unless there has been some increase, I would think Thomasville would be tough in a canoe but doable in a yak. Talk to Brian.

There is a decent chance you will given the amount of water we have gotten, but coming of a flood like that, there may well be tree blockages and that being the least traveled section, there will likely be no reports by then.

Hello,

Like 3hounds I am floating the river as well this coming weekend and wondering what to expect from Greer to Riverton.

With the weather clearing the next few days and into the weekend, would you all expect the river to clear by Friday and return to "normal" or would you still expect muddy conditions? I have never floated the river after this much rain.

Thank you

It will be flowing a little high, but it will be fine. As to whether the river will be clear or muddy...it will likely be somewhere in between. It won't be muddy, but would not be surprised if a murkier green color would the case with about 3-5ft of visablity. Frankly, the clarity is a little less predictable, but it should not be muddy.
