Members Mitch Schellinger Posted July 7, 2014 Members Posted July 7, 2014 Hey guys. I'm going on my first fly trip this week down at roaring river state park. I'm excited to fly fish for the first time. I have been watching YouTube vids and practicing in my yard! Just wanted to say hello!
Kelroy Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Hi Mitch, welcome to the forum. Roaring River is a neat place, I'm sure you'll love it. As an amateurish flyfisherman myself, I'd say, practice your roll cast. Much easier to have fun and concentrate on what's in front, without having to worry about stuff behind you. Just my .02 :-)
Members chris in nixa Posted July 7, 2014 Members Posted July 7, 2014 In the area near the Highway bridge.. try some Parachute Adams after 8-9am or so. Also don't forget to stop by and buy some bugs from Tim and get some advice.... nobody knows the park better! Members Mitch Schellinger Posted July 7, 2014 Author Members Posted July 7, 2014 Ok that's what the guy at my local shop told me to do. I will take both your advice
rps Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I hope you enjoy the devil out of the park. Stop and enjoy and think. The CCC put it all together during the Depression. Something the government did to keep people working. Every CCC place I visit and every WPA school or public building I visit gives me a pause.
