sms_alum Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 The fishing was so so this weekend. We definitely had to work for them. Bass fishing was tuff, we caught a few in the mornings on plastic worms with the best success coming on main lake points in the mutton creek area. We found a few keepers but nothing over 3lbs. We were able to get a few off of bridge pillars on grubs and spinner baits as usual. Looked for the whites all over but only saw a few surfacing, which was disappointing. As hot as it was and marking fish deep/suspended we took to trolling. Found the whites and a few nice crappie. If you were marking bait they seemed to be near. Crappie and whites where on the flats using flicker shads and bombers. Crappie seemed to hit the deeper running baits. Trolled some points in the same areas and picked up more bass than I expected, also picked up half dozen wallagators, but only one keeper. The whites seemed to be a scattered near the points as well, but always after marking shad. I tried the the trolling rig with a spoon/crank and caught a few on it, but I was only picking up fish on the crankbait part so I dropped the spoon after a few tangles. The lake looked to be in great shape and was a little busier than in previous years, but everyone seemed to be behaving themselves. Lastly, I did not notice and cut lips on any of the bass, I hope that crap is over.
Members line wetter Posted July 15, 2014 Members Posted July 15, 2014 Was up this weekend also. Was camping nad mainly playing int he water with the family. Did get out Friday night for some bass fishing. Caught several shorts on 10 inch worm and white spinnerbait after dark. had one keeper (17") and about 15 shorts. they were all solid and healthy and tugged good so it was fun. bites were light but once you set the hook they got mean.
