Time again for my family's yearly trek to Beaver Lake (We have a family cabin on the water in Ventris Cove). These trips are always fun and relaxing, but at the same time frustrating because our lack of a fishing boat (unless you count the 8 foot battery powered one). Since I have never had much success fishing from the shore, I was wanting some info or tips on jug lines and trot lines for catfishing. I hope I can achieve some success!

Thanks for any information (I am constantly checking out the daily reports even though I don't have the opportunity to use much of the information provided.), and I hope everyone has fun and stays safe.

PS - I caught a new PG largemouth in a small central Kansas lake -7lbs 6oz

I am not a cat fisherman so I cant help much. But I think I can safely say, as you have probably already read, that it is advisable to use circle hooks on all your rigs. I also have personally talked to many that say small live perch is good bait.

Good luck. I would think the more out the better. I would also keep a good eye on them. Set them late and get them early. Not sure of all the regulations, but I would be sure to keep in line with all of them.

I'll second that. Circle hooks are a must in my opinion, they work great and will greatly reduce killing whatever bites.

Order sudden impact or Secret 7 look at the you tube videos on hooks I use the yellow soft bat tubes with the size 6 3hook thing. I fish structures in the shallows . You get bites within 5min. Re bait within 10 let it sit the smell lures them to strike. They sell furry things too. I cough 8 in 2 hours lost a few huge ones.
