Good morning fellow anglers. Im planning a little 2 day float on the JF next weekend. I have 3 guys and a canoe..hoping to mostly wade with the canoe just for transit and to carry some gear. Considering the water levels what is your advice. Been researching upstream from eminence and it sounds like it may be the best place to avoid the flotilla..and still catch fish. We are appreciative and open to suggestions. Thanks!!

wading with the canoe is what you will be doing, actaully dragging the canoe is what you'll be doing. I would put in at Eminence and float to 2 rivers. That is a good 1 day float with time to fish. Im not familiar enough with the current below 2 rivers to tell where the next take out would be. You are going on a weekend so yeah you are going to have other people to deal with. If thats not doable go during the week or go to the Big Piney hell i never run into anyone there.

Watch the gauges. You can always float from Alley Spring to Two Rivers, or extend the float down to Powdermill on the Current for a nice two day float. But if you want to go above Alley, pay close attention to the Mountain View gauge. Right now it's at 37 cfs. Anything under 50 cfs and a loaded canoe will scrape bottom in every riffle and have to be dragged over a lot of them. Anything under 35 or so and you'll be getting out at just about every riffle, and having to walk farther at each one.
