Wayne SW/MO Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I think C&R should be just that period. The warm water fish that show up there on occasion don't stay and they aren't common enough to change anything. I see know reason to worry about any records either, we're talking about a mile or so, the only tailwater we have and the best place to establish an area that would be unique. If its simple, it is more likely to work, No fish kept period,( there's about 25 miles of trout water running east that should satisfy anyone), no fish pulled clear of the waters surface, except they could be netted and lifted clear during generation as long as they aren't removed from the net and are released immediatly. No trebles, single hook lures only. it should be simple enough to be enforceble. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 23, 2005 Author Root Admin Posted November 23, 2005 I killed a small rainbow this evening fishing the Rocking Chair Hole. It took a soft hackle inside the mouth behind the tongue, in the gills. Before I had any chance to cut the line, it slopped in the water while I had ahold of the line and pulled hard. Blood gushed from the gills- it had ripped a gill. Don't think I could have done anything to prevent it. And it's not the first time and won't be the last I'm sure. I could have kept it (less than 12 inches) but I left it on the bank for the buzzards. They made short work of it.
