jbooth24 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I floated from cox to jro today I launched at all and right off the bat had some bites. I landed only two small mouth in the boat one was 8 in and the other was about 10 in. I did have a problem were they would hit it and let it go. I did lock hold of what was a decent size small mouth but got off the hook right at the canoe. I also caught a 12 in large mouth bass. While I was stoped to fish I saw a good size gar come up to the top of the water a few times. I also saw a dead one up by the bank maybe 200 yards down river. My girlfiend also caught a bunch of bluegill and sunfish. It was a great day of fishing and a great day to be on the water. I'm really hoping I will have more luck next weekend and actually land the ones I missed.
MeatintheFreezer Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 How was the water level, did you drag much? I see that the gauge at Galena is 2.8', that's getting pretty low in my experience to float without dragging quite a bit. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
