smallmouthjoe
Hello everyone, I'm keen on getting information about a good overnight float on this river this weekend. Is there enough water? What access points should I look into. Any information would be greatly appreciated considering I know little about this river. Thanks and take care. Wayne SW/MO
I can't address the water, but the Orla to B wouldn't be a bad float, but it's only 7 miles. you could use the bridge at B as a marker and then camp below it and go on to Drynob the second day. I don't think the water below gives you a lot of good camping choices, unless you do the end and take out a Hazelgreen. No one clears the O fork, so be aware that portage could be required,. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
smallmouthjoe
Thanks for the info. I expected there would most likely be downed trees considering the lack of floating and I'll deal with it in order to escape the crowd.
Terrierman
I've only floated the Osage Fork once and loved it for that exact same reason. Didn't do very well fishing though, which was probably me. Also seems like there was a lot of paddling.
Wayne SW/MO
Believe it or not I caught my best smallie, 18"+, from the OF. It was within casting distance of a worm box strewn access. It was in deep water in November. As a rule the fish I've caught out of there have probably averaged smaller than the 'Nade or the Niangua. It also seems to have a larger goggle eye to smallie ration, but that's just a guess. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
