Fish24/7 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Wt 80 659.16 light stain On the water before 6am, stayed until around 10:00am both days. Got into a good early bite both trips on custom made/painted topwaters. Smaller baits like a tiny torpedo, an 3/16 oz buzzbait, and a Zara Puppy. Had 7 keeper lmb Friday morn, 5 keeper lmb Saturday morn. No Brownies or Kentuckies. All released. Instead of hitting the creeks again I went to the back of a couple deep hollows, boat sitting in 6' or less adj. to "deeper" water. There were tight pods of minnows present in both hollows. Didn't see any shad or very many gills there, just hundreds and hundreds of minnows. If you ran a bait through those minnows they would panic, scatter, and that would trigger a bite. Some of the bass were also hiding under the green buck in just inches of water. I'd cast the buzz bait off to the side and the bass would swim out, chase it down and eat it. Make long accurate casts and be quiet
Bluff-Bassin Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Thanks for the report! Makes you wonder if those Largemouth stay there through out the day and take up residency in the bushes or just hang out in the bushes til the sun gets up and then head out deep.
Fish24/7 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 probably both. Some stay, some leave. Quite a few hangin around since april
