countryred Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 We traveled south to our place near the Jacks Fork . for the Labor Day weekend. Spent most of our time working on the land and getting the blind ready for hunting season. But we did fish most of the day Friday near the Bacher acess . The river is really low and as always,...clear. We caught more goggle eyes than smallies, probably due to the small baits we were throwing. The best smallie might have been 14" or so. . We did see several in the 17"-18" class but they were spooky and did not want to bite. A couple of good fish chased my goggle eyes back to the bank as I reeled them in. A small uncle bucks crawfish worked well along with a senko. I tried topwater for a little while but remembered why I don't use it with floro.
Coosa Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Did my first trip on the Jacks fork Friday. Went from eminence to two rivers. I have heard A lot of good things about this river so I went in with high expectations. Big mistake. I don't know what I did wrong but I had probably the worst day fishing I have had this year. Only caught 7-8 fish in the 8 mile stretch. Largest being maybe 11". It was slow to way the least. Talked to a couple others fishing who seemed to be having the same luck. Just one of those days I guess. I will be back to try again
countryred Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Coosa , that is a pretty stretch to float. We floated it a couple falls ago. Seemed like the fish were stacked in certain stretches and not everywhere. The deep water areas around Eminence were the best.
Coosa Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I agree, definitely a beautiful river. I want to go back in the fall
Members Spincast4fish Posted September 2, 2014 Members Posted September 2, 2014 I was down there at the end of July and the three of us all caught our biggest fish yet on Jacks Fork. 18" for two of us and my buddies 9 yr old son caught a 15". We will be back in mid Oct fishing JF and Eleven Point.
