Pick up a weighted float and fish marabou jigs under a float. You won't be able to consistently catch trout retrieving baits all winter long especially as the water cools in the heart of winter.

The problem with Walker that I've found is that when they redid the lake a few years ago they lined the bottom with a mesh netting to help keep things in place(???) when they filled it back up??? I guess? It attracts treble hooks it seems and it's easy to get snagged on. I lost a couple $15 pointer jerk baits there last spring.

That explains quite a bit, I've fished there several times over the summer and fall and did get hung at times but nothing like with the spinners and spoons, as you said they had treble hooks. Was using mostly plastic worms on me bass.
