awhuber Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 http://www.thesalemnewsonline.com/news/local_news/article_9ab14884-7bcb-11e4-83b4-2b2b92d8ec04.html Supt Black was at our meeting and talked about some of the coming changes. Looks like Nixon may have to call out the guard to the Maplewood HQ of Club Sierra as they didnt get their option "A" Also No motors up from round spring except during gigging and trapping seasons (25 horsepower) Bill black announced he would be retiring 12-30-14. I am sure we will be getting another short timer to take his place, soon. There is only 1 employee of the ONSR who has been there for the whole planning process and they are retiring soon. If you are on the mailing list you will get the slick brochure soon. Call for the cd.
Members tanvat Posted December 10, 2014 Members Posted December 10, 2014 awhuber, Thanks for the heads up. Will be intertesting to see the details. My guess is that the NPS "compromised" and, in the process, compromised a lot of the future health of the riverways to benefit (1) huge outfitters catering to massive party crowds and (2) the small minority that insists on a motorized aquatic superhighway and riverside ATV track; i.e., the drunk and lazy. In any event, as in the past, there will be essentially no enforcement by NPS and a lot of river users - locals and non-locals alike - will continue to show little respect for their surroundings. Bottom line, it'll be business as usual.
Gavin Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks for the info. The boaters should be reasonably happy with that. Think it will be on their website later this week. awhuber 1
