Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 17, 2007 Root Admin Posted January 17, 2007 There's a group of people meeting today and tomorrow at the 2nd Baptist Church on Battlefield just west of 65 at 1 pm- they work until dark. They have a trailer equipped with chainsaws and other tools to clear brush and trees. If you can meet them and work- have at it. I can't today but plan to tomorrow.
Terry Beeson Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Just wanted to bump this up. My boss is one of the coordinators of this service. They need a lot of help. They need two types... Chainsaw operators - I think there is some sort of requirement to take a class for this just as a liability issue. Brush pullers - For every chainsaw running, they need 5 or 6 people pulling brush out of the way. If you can walk and breath on your own, you qualify for this one. They will be working this afernoon, Friday, and Saturday for sure. If you would like to help, contact Ronnie Walker at 417-343-3809. TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 19, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted January 19, 2007 Worked a couple of hours today clearing tree branches at 3 homes in south Springfield. Worked with Tri-County Baptist Relief Workers. There's about 5 teams/trailers working the area. Tomorrow they'll be in the Nixa area. Tip of the tip of the iceberg... incredible damage everywhere. It will take months to clean it up. Here are some pics- They are and the are not picky about who works... they have you fill out a form and say you should have experience but they won't turn away help. They probably won't let you cut anything- they are picky about that. You have to go thru training. Not ice has melted... I saw up to one full inch of ice on branches- solid. It started to get alittle breezy at the end... I move my truck away from a tree and told others not to stand under any trees. Very spooky. Starting Sunday we will have rooms for anyone needing rooms. Spread the word.
