rFisherk Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 In the near future, the Conservation Federation of Missouri will launch a new interactive, grassroots advocacy portal that will easily allow you to vote and comment on a piece of pending legislation. It will present our voices so your representatives know, in near real-time, how you feel on the issue before they vote on it and before they take the floor to talk for or against various measures? Through this easy-to-use tool, you can now share your individual sentiment, in a quick, high-tech manner, with your representatives on a district-by-district basis. Don't just complain about things here, to other people who can't really do much about it. Make you individual and collective voices heard right at the top. This information is brand new, so CFM doesn't even have it up on their website yet, but you can learn more about it on their Face Book Page at: https://www.facebook.com/confedmo.
Norm M Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I know a guy that was a state rep up my way. He said if he didn't know enough about an issue , he would give very serious consideration on how to cast his vote based on even a single letter on the issue. what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
rFisherk Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Everything good thing about the outdoors we have in this state, and the nation, was the result of citizen involvement and political pressure from the populace. It's time to get involved again.
Old plug Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I lobbied up there with the Mo assn of the deaf. After seeing vote trading (they keep count of who owns them what) and vote switching behind doors. You better make a very hard impact on those people. thaf is only thing they understand.
LarrySTL Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I knew a guy who for years was very active in behind the scene politics in the Mo Legislature and he said that emails from 10 people who live in a legislators district is, on many issues, a huge amount of input and likely to at least make the legislator consider supporting what those 10 people wanted. My present rep is a woman who actually seems to *get* issues about conservation and MDC. http://intervenehere.com
Old plug Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I have always felt if you want to really go after the political circus the best way is through the media. They all understand the media and fear it as well.
