zarraspook Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Great idea.... I tried the same type of rig with a separate line for the clip and weight... 3 hours of fighting tangles and twist -- gave up..... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Feathers and Fins Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Ya I had the same fun experience till I got it all down. Now it works like a charm you have to keep the tension on the main line as you put the weight line down and keep the boat in gear. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Interesting... I would imagine that a weightless fly slowly trolled behind the boat might work as well, especially when the whites and bass are busting young shad on top. You might need a splitshot or two to get it below the surface (and help it run out), though.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 KJ it does as does running it on sinking fly-line or lead core this method just gets it deeper and with short leaders out more precise especially when following a long points contour or channel edge contour. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Chillfish Posted February 6, 2015 Members Posted February 6, 2015 Which fish are you targeting and having success on with this setup?
Feathers and Fins Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 So far, Striper, whites, Bass, Walleye and Crappie pretty much anything that will eat a shad. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
