Seth Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 What kind of tackle do you all prefer to use for snagging? I started out using the broomsticks, but have moved to surf tackle for the last 4 years. With surf rods, 10ft+ in length, we started to hit more up of those suspended fish it seemed.
Members hoover25 Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 I have used both....more work with the surf gear, but also more fun. That said, I am using the broomstick model this season.
kelly Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I have used the same 10' Ugly Stick for a number of years now...20 I think. I also use sixty pound Spiderwire but I tie my sinker on with lighter stuff or mono. Here in Kansas we now have to use barbless hooks or bend them flat at least. Kelly
DeepDiver75 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 If fishing from a boat I prefer my broomstick with a Penn level -wind. On the rare occassion that I snag from shore I do think that a longer spinning rod is more beneficial because you can get a better swing with the hooks and improve your odds. Anyone else on the board here going to be around Osceola on opening day? That's where I'm starting the season this year.
