Members Jtram201 Posted February 17, 2015 Members Posted February 17, 2015 First time poster long time lurker. I used to fish a lot but stopped several years ago selling the boat but keeping all of my equipment. As of late last summer I bought another boat but haven't been out much due to other hobbies. With the recent warm up fishing has came back into my mind. So here are the questions. Spinning rod for the Ned rig? 7' or more ML M or MH? Stick baits. I have a box full of rogues basic colors but what about the new stick baits. Sizes and or colors? Brand? I will probably spend most of my time in Bull but will show up on TR every once in a while. Thanks everyone. I read this forum daily and keep up with what is going on the best I can. If you see a red and black Basscat Eyra 96 with a evinrude 175 on it stop say hi and drop of few hints please.
troutgnat Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I haven't ventured into the high priced Mega Bass jerks yet but if your fishing Rogues(they do work) make sure you have that Sour Grape colored one. I am fond of the Spro McSticks as many on here are. The Blue Bandit(fav) and the Norman flake are two very good colors. Hit your search button, a lot of good talk on here of jerkbaits. On the rod, 7' would be great. I don't like too stiff a rod, you need a good butt section with some flex in the tip especially if your fishing the ned on a 1/16th head for better castability. Then again everyone has their preferences. Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
dtrs5kprs Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 You definitely don't want more than a medium for the Ned. Most mediums are probably a touch heavy. Length is up to you. I use everything from 6'6"-7'6" rods for the little rig.
