While not on beaver, the spro bucktail is my goto bucktail on the arkansas river for stripers and hybrids on Greers. Very versatile lure. Those multiple possible presentations make the hair jig one of two lures I always have tied on when targeting the stripers and hybrids. The other is a spoon.

I got a couple of the one ounce Wahoo Super Striper bucktails. They look to be well made. They come in 1/4 to 2 ounce sizes.

F&F, how do you normally fish striper jigs? Cast or straight down?

I let the fish tell me what to do. I am constantly watching the sonar and the surface of the water. When they go deep I will slow retrieve or roll it on the bottom when they are on the surface I watch to see if it is a violent surface strike or a subsurface flash-hit and work the bait accordingly.
