I have seen a 40 lb flathead come out of there. Have only caught a 12 lb channel myself. It its really over fished though. Best time to fish it is after a big rain and water be up past the lower ramp. Did snag a 40 lb spoonbill two years ago but won't go back. It is a circus down there opening day. Think Bennett springs opening day but with huge trebles and big lead weights flying around.

Idk if they will this year make it to the dam unless we get some rain last year I don think that many did. But I got a snagging rod I would like to try out thou.

I myself use a medium heavy bass casting rod and have a blast when i go. Now i leave that for my wife to do since she would rather catch them than any other fish LOL
