Members jordancoll2352 Posted February 26, 2015 Members Posted February 26, 2015 Hey everybody I just got a new bait casting rod and was wonder what kind of bait and line I should use on it. It is a 6ft 6 lure weight says 3/8-1oz line weight 10-20lb power Medium Heavy action is fast. I want to know if this would make a good buzzbait and spinnerbait rod and what else I could throw on this rod thanks!
Smalls21 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 i would use it as a jig rod with 12lb flourocarbon
Members junk fishin Posted February 26, 2015 Members Posted February 26, 2015 That should be a good all around rod. I would put 10 -12 lbs mono on it if it's your only casting rod. You should be able to throw everything, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, cranks, jigs, plastics, etc...what brand is your new rod?
Members jordancoll2352 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Members Posted February 26, 2015 It's a bass pro brand if I wanted to make it like an everything rod from buzzbaits to spinnerbaits and even Jigs what brand of line and what lb would be the best
Ketchup Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Most line in todays world is comparable as far as comparing brand to brand, not line type to brand. I would spool it with 10LB Mono for an overall rod. If money isnt a factor, then your options are endless. If thats the case, get another combo, and rig it opposite of current one. TinBoats BassClub. Walcrabass Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Trilene XL is unbeatable for this application. Very reasonably priced too. Sometimes Wal-Mart has close out prices this time of year as their new line is coming into stock. I have used trilene for over 40 years. Good stuff. Aggressor1988long 1

Smallieguy87 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 As some have said..this is a good all purpose rod. Should work well for a buzzbait, spinnerbait, even jigs and plastics. I'd recommend fluorocarbon line for jigs and plastics since it tends to sink.
