Fishin' Freak Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Well since I finally got out and caught some fish I have to post. Two of us hit the water at 8:00 this morning and fished till 11. We managed to put 8 fish in the boat and had 4 solid keepers--two spots and two brownies. We also lost three fish and missed a few due to the bite being real soft. All our fish came off the shaky head between 15 and 25 feet in the Indian Pt. area. Bottom structure did not seem to matter much--we caught them on pea gravel, chunck rock, and ledge rock-flats and points. We would have fished a bit longer but the freezing rain started falling.
Bill Babler Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Good to see a few of us out stiring the pot a bit. Sounds like you guys had a great day. Again, would not have thought of a streight line worm bite at that depth, this time of the year. The fish are simply where you find them. Usually don't see a lot of bass hunkered to the bottom in that shallow depth this time of year. Most seem to be either deep or wandering suspended getting ready to pull up. Great Job. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fishin' Freak Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 I agree with you totally on the depth of the fish. I was a bit suprised to see fish that shallow this time of year as well. We kept the boat in 35 feet of water all morning. I hope to get out again soon.
J.E. Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Heading out Friday to the Kimberling City area. Let me know what's going on until then and I'll post also Friday night. Thanks.
