Members Blitz960 Posted March 23, 2015 Members Posted March 23, 2015 Clay, I was at 412 bridge yesterday. Launched there and promptly went to blue springs bridge but no action except for crappie. Then went further up stream to Habberton. Saw quite a few boats, mostly spider rigging, not sure if they caught anything but I didn't. How far up river did u go at the Twin?
hoglaw Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Above twin is difficult in much other than a flat bottom in normal water conditions. Long shoal just above the bridge, then another one at the top of the next pool.
Members beaverbeater Posted March 23, 2015 Members Posted March 23, 2015 Haha was the guy you talked walleye with look like Jesus? Long black hair and beard? My buddy was catching walleye on the river today with a 22" and 26" on a stringer lol
Guest Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 The gauge at wyman is showing 54 degrees, yesterday Sequoyah was 54 degrees, today it was 48 degrees upriver & 52 degrees at the dam. Maybe my gauge is off but there's a big difference in the river & parts of Sequoyah. 3 degree drop from yesterday, I hate descending water temps. If the sun shines all week, there will be fish caught.

Blitz, I was up around 2 miles above the bridge. Up above the backside of Waterford Estates clubhouse. sfiser Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Hoglaw, how hard would it be to get a river boat with a jet engine on it up the shoals if i put in at twin bridges? I have a Topwater trout boat with a jet on it and I'm thinking that could be an option but i dont want to beat the heck out of my boat either.
Members Blitz960 Posted March 23, 2015 Members Posted March 23, 2015 Sfiser, .. I've seen boats with jets up and down Twin all the time.. now, granted at some point during the season when the water is low, you might have tpo get out of the boat to drag it along but definitely jet motors are not an irregular sight out there... If water gets too low, the first shoal/island upriver from the first bridge, you'd have to get out and sometimes, pull it along to get past that narrow strip of water by there. As Clay mentioned, there's another shoal little bit further the way as well...
hoglaw Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 sfiser, in a jet you're completely fine at this water level. I've been out there in the hot summer when you can see grass growing out of the water from the bridge looking upstream. I was new to my jet at the time so I just idled through there and got by with no problems. I need a good 10" at idle, but only 3" on plane. So you could easily run into the next long hole with your boat. There's some skinny water above that right before the waterford hole though. I haven't tried to run it, but I can tell you it was impossible that summer day when I was out there. May be do-able now. My boat is WAY too heavy to drag anywhere, and if I can drag it, I can run it.
