  1. When it comes down to cat fishing, you are generally going to be limited to what you catch based upon your bait. I am not a fan of prepared baits, but I always have a bag or two of some dough and some of those dead shad. (Always good to get backup). In my experience, all the channels I have caught were on cut bait. Blues generally both live shad, dead shad, shrimp, soap, anything really. And flatheads mainly on live bait of any kind, except during the a fullish moon. I have caught a lot of flatheads on dead bait on the full moon, my belief is that the dead shad rolling around on the bottom illuminates slightly to make it look alive. That being said I have caught all species of cat on all over the lake. I personally am not a fan of jugs (always seem to get the gat snagged up). I am a big fan of bottom rigging lines into pole holders and pole fishing em. Nothing like bringing what feels like a vw bug from the bottom of the water. Personally, the most sucess I have found was using a mix of live/dead shad/brim/hotdogs on limblines in creeks and my poles on the bottom near a ledge. Always had a lot of sucess that way on beaver. either way, you have soldiers. I would get them set up on catching brim, (always fun because you will always land fish) throw out a few cast nets for shad, and bring hotdogs (because it's the darn 4th and it's too American)
  2. I know these idiots. They are idiots and will make the Darwin Award list. Just let them do their dumb stuff. Mother Nature will take care of it.
  3. Could be someone getting into the water or causing a disturbance near the sensor. Saw the same thing 2 weeks ago for the wyman bridge. It's the only logical thing seeing as it hasn't rained for a week and I was footing by that day near that area
  4. Thanks. And Ya, I just need to bust mine out of the storage unit. Wasn't expecting to catch a fish third cast at 6 am. Usually like to start at the ramp and slowly work my way across before anyone has shown up! Yes I am always the first person fishing when I go. Early bird gets the worm and his choice of spot
  5. A few years back I had a buddy that worked a farm near the river. After war eagle mill flooded bout 5 years back, he went through the pond and found a massive drum. I mean 25# +. Was insane to see what can get caught in a pond.
  6. Got out real bright and early to twin bridges this morning. Ended up with a nice 17.5" white. Caught it just before daybreak. Not much action other than that. Twas interesting trying to land that whopper off a 10 ft high bank.
  7. Also right at twin bridges during the later summer. Some buddies and I would throw out some jugs for catfish and would get em a lot.
  8. It goes for lots of things. Did you know at one point lobster was considered peasant food and was highly looked down upon?
  9. Haha see I'm single. So no problems there. I'm more recreational.
  10. Goes for me as well. I catch crappie all the time targeting other species. Threw a few slabs back last week while white bass fishing. If I'm not crappie fishing, I ain't keeping. Take a quick pic of the bigger ones, and let me go. I'm not cleaning two crappie. Just not worth my time. Now this does come back to bite my butt when I end up catching what would have been a limit. But o well. Seems like I'll catch one or two every trip.
  11. Haha ️️yall got me! It was all in good fun! Happy April fool's day!
  12. I just caught (what I believe to be) the state record for flathead. This thing is massive. Can't upload because on mobile, but we are trying to get him in my jeep right now. It's not easy, we have the winch working around a tree. This thing is half the size of my 16 ft canoe. I'm shaking right now typing this. This thing is unbelievable. Caught him on a deep diving crank bait in about 20 ft of water. Can't wait until ️️yall see this beast!
  13. I'm sorry if I came off harsh. But I don't take kindly to people telling me what I can and can't do based upon my equipment. it's my tax dollars, and I adhear to the law. And if you are going to throw out such a negative, self consuming post about how you have to have a certain boat to go out there and basically say I'm not welcome, im gonna come back with teeth. There are tons of activities that the lake provide other than taking a large boat out. and just because you don't like them doesn't mean the lake is yours. I just felt the post was terribly selfish. Take it for what you want.
  14. I only had one problem like that around the highway 12 area . It was a nice day, and then it wasn't lol. Got out as quickly as possible, but it wasn't easy. It was a very bad day.
  15. See he just said canoe. I have a bright red canoe, I never go out in low light and I always stay close up to the shore. If you can't see me, then you need to slow the f down.
  16. Your opinion sucks.... Just saying. I fish from a canoe in the Gulf of Mexico as well. Have been doing it my whole life in matagorda bay. Like I said. You are as wrong as wrong can get. Beaver lake isn't only for people that can afford 18k$ boat. You are the eighteen wheeler, I am the coupe. You don't run the road. It's shared. But someone with that low level of ideology like yourself wouldn't understand it.
  17. I've been praying for her every time I've been fishing. Put's life in perspective.
  18. Exactly, and it's all about respecting everybody's safety. Everyone should be able to enjoy the fish and river. It's no different than moving lanes over on the highway for a car with a flat. I will say though, if you aren't wearigg a life jacket on a small craft, then you yourself are already asking for trouble. I try to respect everyone's personal space when I go fishing. And I usually like fishing away from the crowds. I don't even mind bush wacking and crawling the bank for a few miles just to get away. I view it a lot like duck hunting. Don't set your spread right on top of someone. Make sure you both have room to move a little bit if need be.
  19. This kind of stuff really scares me. I fish primarily from a canoe. And the jackasses that see how big of a wake they can generate with their oversized outboards on small water. Happened at twin a few times last time I went out. Big boat puts in and immediately floors it sending a wake halfway up the river bank. Everytime I see someone do that, I just pray they jackknife their boat later to never see it again. To all people in powerboats, look out for the small crafts. This time of year is really dangerous with the water temps in the 40's and 50's. Don't be that guy.
  20. If you wanna make it one way, you should just put in at 45 and take out at blue springs. Would be a bit of a foot, but better than paddling upstream 2 miles.
  21. The walleye were good to me today. Got a nice 22" and caught some shorts (doesn't matter, caught fish). Great time out there on the white. Lots of people though.
  22. Baha I plan on buying a flat back canoe with a trolling motor April 1
  23. Haha was the guy you talked walleye with look like Jesus? Long black hair and beard? My buddy was catching walleye on the river today with a 22" and 26" on a stringer lol
