Members DownStream Posted March 14, 2015 Members Posted March 14, 2015 With this stretch of warmer spring like weather, I plan on heading out for my first smallmouth trip. I plan on wading, but with the recent snow melt and and rain, I'm trying to figure out what stream would better fit my needs. I have it narrowed down the amidon area or 72 bridge on the Castor. On the black the k bridge or Lesterville access. Are these feasible options with current water levels. Any advice would be appreciated. Mike
rFisherk Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Black River is in minor flood stage, about 9 feet. No way you can wade it during the next few days. Don't know about the Castor. It's a much smaller stream and should come up and go down quicker, but I've found fishing to be tough when water is falling. My advice would be to postpone your trip.
jdmidwest Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Castor is blowed out too. Better try a pond. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Members DownStream Posted March 15, 2015 Author Members Posted March 15, 2015 Thanks for the info fellas. That's kind of what I figured, but I guess I needed someone else to tell me. Might go scout out some of the smaller creeks and possibly make a cast or two. Mondays off are nice.
