inshore Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 put in at old state park 9:30 off at 3:00. threw the tackle box at them. shallow and deep grubs, jigs, swim baits, ned rig and puke tube. landed two and lost two on the tube in about 8 feet of water one keeper. temp 45 to 47 with 6 to 8 feet of visibility. saw lots of shad and fish in 40 to 60 feet of water.
Sac River Jim Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 inshore we launched out of ruark today before 7:00am and had 5 nice keeps on the jerker within 30mins. we went meat fishing and were whacking the crap out of the whites but by 9:00 the clouds rolled in and the wind got up and the bite was pretty much over except an occasional white or dink LM when the sun popped out. we are picking up a few nice keeps towards the back of the creek pockets on small grubs on 1/16oz heads slow rolling them right off the bottom. Also caught a few in the same locations on spro rock crawlers and little johns. with exception of the rip rap fish we caught early all our fish came on flat pea gravel banks in less than 6fow. Sac River Jim Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 around 50. but with sun those flats warm up pretty fast. yesterday the same shallow pockets were 53. those fish are staging and gorging on shad and crawfish as soon as the water reaches 57 they will start to make a move. 62 degrees is the magic number for the spawn to start.
