When does a jig and crawler and bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses start becoming effective for walleye?. Have only been fishing the lake for about 3 years and the earliest we have caught them on jig and crawler was April 26 didn't write down the water temp. Is there a water temp to look for?

Really was looking for guys opinions about when the Jig and Crawler bite would begin. Is that something that you catch them on all year long or does it start when they move back from there spawning areas at a certain water temp. Those type of things.

I listened to a great podcast on this very subject last year. Some fella from Min-ah-so-tah, eh? was talking about it. I think his opinion was the magic number was 64 degrees. Anything under and he used minnow type presentation and anything over he used worms and leeches. he carried a thermometer around on a string to check the temperature at the depth he was graphing and/or catching fish.
