Guest flyfishBDS Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Great trip with 3 generations of the Lenard family on Norfolk and Dry Run Creek. Water levels were way low, with the White not having run in 48 hours. Spent a lot of time dragging the drift boat, and fighting an upstream wind Levi, 11, caught his first two trout on fly, his father Lewis lost several nice fish on a fly rod and as yet is unblooded, but only needs a slice of luck to go his way. Flies of choice were zebra midge variant "Bryce's TDM", pearl submarine soft hackles. Next day onto Dry Run where Levi became a real fly fisher, catching a bunch of nice fish on eggs and white woolly. Thenm came the fish below. Not bad for an 11 yo on his second FF outing. I think he's hooked and he's going to be one hell of a fly fisher Cheers and Happy 2006 all Steve
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 1, 2006 Root Admin Posted January 1, 2006 My, my, my... people travel the world in search for a rainbow like that. What a beautiful trout!! Good for Levi.
gonefishin Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Fantastic fish!! And looks like a really good fishing partner too. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
Danoinark Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Excellent fish Steve congrats to young Levi. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Guest flyfishBDS Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Its just an extradinary area to fish here Dry Run is such a cool spot for kids etc. Mindblowing the fish that are in there. We saw so many huge fish, as anyone who has walked the bank would know. Ive been suggesting a similar fishery be set up on a little hatchery outflow, I know back home. It was a great idea. Cheers
Members moose50 Posted January 3, 2006 Members Posted January 3, 2006 now thats one gnarly trout. those fish are what dreams are made of...mine at least. nothing like that to get a kid hooked for life, the most important thing is that they have fun doing it and thats all it takes. great job to you both and awesome fish!!!!!
CaptainT16 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Congrats Levi on the awesome fish. The only thing you have to look out for??? Well, it looks like it's already in your blood now! Keep up the great fishing! BTW, how much did that fish weigh? Members Brent-T Posted January 4, 2006 Members Posted January 4, 2006 What a pig! Congrats to young Levi. I was wondering the measurements and weight myself.
tippet7 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Beautiful fish! Nice way to get the youngster started. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
