Members Skip Smith Posted January 25, 2007 Members Posted January 25, 2007 I have a question about night fishing with egg patterns. Do you use a strike indicator? I've heard rummor of a glow in the dark indicator? Skip Hey Leonard, You talked about going to 3x tippit a couple of nights ago. Are you using 3x tippit on the dropper also? Skip
Leonard Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 skip... when I got a new leader.. put it on... I probably do something that nobody else does... I break off about 2-2 1/2 foot of the leader... then I tye in about a 5-6 foot piece of Maxima 6lb line... get a nice 3x..or 4x tappered leader.. and twist it around a couple of finger.. and it will snap like 2lb line.. when you get about 2-3 feet up that leader then you start to find it a little tougher to break.. that where I tye in to... then once I use up my 6lb line.. I clip off the knot.. and tye on another piece... this is just a little thing I like to do... Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Crippled Caddis Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Ducky, Try putting a little head cement on the last 1/4"-1/2" of the thread closest to the fly after you've got the whip finish wrapped but BEFORE pulling it down tight. I whip finish by hand and do two finishes on each head, adding cement to the thread with each. I usually don't cement the head when finished since I figure if I'm fishing the fly where it needs to be that I'm not gonna have it long enough for it to come apart.
