Members Green236 Posted April 21, 2015 Members Posted April 21, 2015 Trolled 3.5" Walleye Runners from 10a-2p. Caught two 21", one 20", and a 15". Also a black bass and snagged a sunfish. 15-20 fow off points. Water temp averaged 59. Brutal wind and clear water. Tanderson15 1
Members Green236 Posted April 21, 2015 Author Members Posted April 21, 2015 Both of these fish are 21"...measured them three times. One thick, the other skinny.
J-Doc Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Doing better than I. Then again, I haven't really targeted walleye specifically for a while. The ones I have caught have been really skinny. Which is disconcerting. Hopefully there is nothing wrong? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Riverwhy Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Those look great. I always struggle with getting my trolling speed down. Have fast do you think you averaged?

I went out with a friend in his new boat. The slowest it would troll with his Merc 115 4-Stoke was 3 mph. When trolled against the wind the speed was less, but he kept his graph on sonar so I'm not sure of the speed then. For some odd reason, I caught all the fish today and most were caught with the wind at 3 mph.
J-Doc Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Ah this was that fully loaded Ranger? Man that thing had whistles for its whistles! Slick rig! 3mph??? What prop did you guys put on there? A 22? I run 2.6 and 2.7 typically but with the wind, 3mph can occur. He should be running a 20 or a 21 max. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. The wind helped with that 3 mph but that seemed to be the winning speed today. 20 seems to be the magic # for the prop.
J-Doc Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Ah. I see. Yes. The 20 is just right on the Merc 115 four stroke. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message.
