Mofloatjunkie Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Took our first float trip of the year. Was a little chilly, but the fish were biting. Caught a decent smallmouth on the first cast. I was using the Ned rig exclusively the first hour or so and to my surprise I caught way more goggle eye than bass. Switched to a tube bait and seemed to catch more bass that way. Most of the fish we caught were in deeper water and not relating to structure as much as usual. Found a spawning bed in the back of a cove filled with bass but they wanted nothing to do with our lures. We caught fish on Ned rigs, tube baits, small cranks and 16th oz. jigs. All fish were released to be caught another day. This trip was a reminder of how great the fishing is we have here in the ozarks and how lucky I am to live here. Get out and enjoy it !!! minnmofishbro, dabull23_99 and bs1827 3

yaknar Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good float. I've wondered how the Ned rig would work on the river. I have never tried it. I'll be going in a couple day. I think the river and weather will be perfect. Do you think the river warm enough to leaver the waders at home? I do more wading than kayaking.
Mofloatjunkie Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 I did a lot of wading and I was wearing tennis shoes. I'm Not gonna lie my legs and feet were absolutely freezing the whole trip. Bring the waders. Thanks for your report, your comment on catching fish in the middle of the river for sure put me on more fish.
