Moswimb8slinger Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 With warmer temps this year, they may show up earlier than last year. I'm going to try and top the 50lbs 4oz beast i caught last year, and try and find the bigger one that snapped me off.
navery Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Have you heard of anyone catching any of the recently stocked stripers? I am going to try for them this year and was curious how big they are now. Maybe 4-5 lbs?
Moswimb8slinger Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 They have been catching them since last fall. This spring guides have found the little guys running with the whites and mixed in with Largemouth bass also.
Members Sean_Reynolds Posted May 6, 2015 Members Posted May 6, 2015 Do use all artificial or do you ever use live bait? stinger160 1
Moswimb8slinger Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Artificials... the small ones will bites your typical bass stuff like jerkbaits, crankbaits, small swimbaits on jigheads (kietechs). The giant ones are usually taken on bigger 6 and 8 inch swimbaits and huge saltwater style jerkbaits usually in a gizzard shad or rainbow trout colors. If you can net some gizzard shad and keep them alive, it's worth a try. And it's illegal to use trout as live bait ( I pretty sure that's correct, would have to double check the book)
Members Sean_Reynolds Posted May 7, 2015 Members Posted May 7, 2015 I have bait tanks and fish stripers all over. I live not to far away from the area. I have a bait tank in my garage full of 10-14 inch gizzards if you ever want any company and want to try some live bait. I'm actually headed to the cumberland river in tenn in a couple weeks to chase the big river stripes over that way.
Moswimb8slinger Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 cool, thanks for the offer. I'm actually going to try and get one in my kayak this year. I fish the powersite most of the time when they're running water. Hopefully I don't miss the window being so busy this month with my wedding and other Tournaments and the rain coming in this weekend.
Members Sean_Reynolds Posted May 7, 2015 Members Posted May 7, 2015 Do you mostly fish the night or day?
Moswimb8slinger Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Evenings into the night, but you just have to be there when they're there. I haven't tried tracking the giants.
Moswimb8slinger Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 It has begun... Found this on facebook today. Caught yesterday at PowerSite. There was no other details with the post...
