Members breeves2245 Posted May 5, 2015 Members Posted May 5, 2015 Started off at daylight during what I enjoy most, beating the bank with a top water. Picked up two bass quickly, both in the cut off the boat launch at Harlow. One a slot and the other a dink. I'm trying to get better at deeper water tactics but I am just not very skilled yet. Used my fish finder to locate some structure and worked it with a Ned but nothing doing. I have a very basic grey scale Lowrance X-4 that will be soon upgraded to the Elite 7 Chirp. I hope to mark way points of structure and continue to learn. Maybe drop shot or jig the structure. In desperation, I used the wind that picked up at 10:00 or so to drift across the main body dragging a Ned rig, figured for sure I would hit on something. No dice. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Quillback Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Windsor has been fishing a little tough the last few years from what I have seen and what I've heard talking to other bass fishers. But some good quality. This is a good time of year to throw a Carolina rig on that lake with an 8" Zoom lizard or a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw. Fish the flatter banks out in 6 - 10 FOW.
Members breeves2245 Posted May 5, 2015 Author Members Posted May 5, 2015 I got a fly fishing guide trip to Taneycomo this coming Saturday. Bill Babler (your recommendation) told me about on our trip. I'll probably hit Windsor Sunday and I'll get the Carolina rig a go. Thanks for the tip, I can use all I can get.
Quillback Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I might go over to Windsor this afternoon if the weather is decent. Or maybe tomorrow morning.
