Our first grandson made his debut on Jan 24th at 9:18 a.m. Things were a bit scary at first. They had to do an emergency C-Section on our daughter and then Bryson was airlifted to Souix Falls. Grandma and myself made a hasty drive up north. We're back home now and all is well. Mom was released from Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday and we took her down to Souix Falls to be with Bryson. We had stopped by Bryson's hospital on our way up and checked on him and his father; all was going great. The doctor's are saying they will release him on Monday and everyone will get to go home.

He weighted in at 5 lbs 12 oz and measured 19 inches. Just under the slot limit but I think we'll sneak him out anyway.

Hey- John you're blessed! Now you can experience kids again and I heard it's much easier the second time... you can send them home when things get rough.

Congratulations! You didn't say what happened at the birth, but I've known several mommies released before baby, and they have all done well. I have a friend whose first baby was kept for a week in the NICU, and it bothered her a lot to be sent home before him. However, when baby 2 and 3 came within less than 3 years, she wished some one would keep them! Many blessings to all members of the happy family!

Congratulations, and Thanks Be to God!

And I can attest, I have 5 of them and they are a joy. And as Phil said, you can take them home at will.

Thanks everyone! This is actually our fourth! The first three were girls and I wouldn't trade anything for anyone of them. This is our daughters first though. The girls all belong to our son. And yes, grandkids are great! I told my son a while back that grandkids are OUR reward from God for letting him live through all the messes he got into. :)

MrDucky, The baby became stressed during delivery and his heart rate dropped below 90 beats per minute. The doctor didn't think he could handle the stress of delivery and opted for an emergency c-section. During the procedure he got fluids in his lungs and was breathing the best. The hospital they were at decided they couldn't handle the baby IF things became worse and flew him to one with a NICU that was able to help if things took a turn for the worse. Thank God they didn't and everyone is doing great.
