What a morning.

I woke up in St Louis at 4am. I decided that I had to fish so I geared up and headed for Taney. My G5 landed a mere 10 minutes later. The pilot set us down on the Hatchery road, so I lost no time getting to chute #1.

They were running 7 generators when I arrived. Luckily I had brought my extenders. I strapped the 10 foot stilts to my waders and made my way down to do some fishing.

I tied on the special Y2K that Tim had tied for me. Expecting the conditions I had him tie one up on a 00 Yamagatsu hook with a 2 pound lead head. It was perfect. I thought about using one of Leonard's Minks, but that fly cost me almost $2K. Man those minks are expensive!

The weight held in the fast water and took it right to the bottom. Om my very first cast I got a strike. I set the hook. The fish ran right for the dam. It was into my backing in 5 seconds. I was struggling to get the fish turned. As it approached the dam, the huge fish flew from the water. It was the biggest brookIE I had every seen. It had to be a twenty pounder minimium.

I could not lose this one. It had to be a record. I yelled to Robbie and told her to get the net. Quickly she stretched it from bank to bank. We always keep a comercial net in the G5 just for cases like this. I played the fish for three hours, (luckily the D.O. was up to 112, so the fish had the strength to fight).

After several misses, Rob finally got the fish in the net. Thinking, "What would duckydoty do?", I had Rob snap a picture and released the monster back into the water. I guess I should have measured it, but I left my 100' craftsman tape at home!

We continued to fish for about 5 more hours. We must have caught 2 or 3 thousand fish. What a day!

We got back in the G5 and flew home. I can't wait to get back

Pshaw... -_-

Duckydoty and Leonard use those for bait to catch the little ones... :P

And St Louie to Taney in 10 minutes in a G5? You need to take that thing in... Time for a tune up... B) Of course, I suppose I could lend you my transporter room... As long as you donate a supply of dilithium crystals...

Think about it Terry, If I had had any dilithium crystals I would have used my OWN transpoter. :D

LMW - I'm willing to held with your cabin fever.. Since you're in the metro-east area, head down IL 159 TO 13 to Baldwin lake (just south of New Athens). Fish the north and east bank with a fly-rod/jig combo. You'll soon have tuna arms from all the action from the bluegills..

Great way to ward off the winter fishing blues and stay in tune with casting..
