Hi all

I live in the Farmington area, moved back here from Florida after 23 years. I actually did not fish when I was there. My mistake I suppose. Well I have started fishing again and I spent most of last year hunting Bass on the Big, the St. Francois and the Black Rivers.

As with most, I am hooked!

I am looking forward to reading some of the posts here and trying to learn how to be a better angler. I found this site when I was looking for an article written by Al Agnew. The article was suggested reading by a MDC biologist, Mike Reed. It was on float fishing for small mouth. If any one has a link to this, I would be much obliged.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

Welcome to the site. I use to live in Caledonia and fished the Big River quite often. Bootleg Access during the summer was Awesome for small mouth. Wade from pothole to pothole working your way down stream. Caught many in the 15" to 18" range. Many strip mine pits up along Highway C west of Caledonia good for fishing too. Bismark lake was a fun place to go and fish the St. Francis below down to the railroad bridge. There is an old civil war post up on the south side of the hill over looking the railroad bridge. Put there to guard against Bridge Burners.

Dont have a link to the article your looking for, but I beleive Al frequents this forum and someone will come up with it for you

Hi Dan

Good fishing, no hurricanes. Now we do have have ice, snow, tornados, but the fishing makes up for that.

Enjoy

Thanks Everyone, I feel welcome already! Still trying to find that article by Al Agnew. You guys that are trout fishing, what do you use to stay warm. I bought a set of neopreme (sp) waders that I am going to put on before my regular waders. Will that suffice in river conditions? I am planning on hunting some smallies this weekend :D

Thanks

Leonard has some special coffee that helps keep you warm ;)

I just wear regular waders and a lot of layers.

Silk undies under cold gear or compression pants under insulated underwear under sweats under flannel shirt... and I have overalls to go outside of that... then breathable waders. Then I have a hot cup of coffee with some special creamer...

And I'm thinking about asking Phil if he will come down and set up a couple of his tarps around me where I'm fishing to keep the wind off me...

That worked wonders NYD at the pavillion... ;)
