Members GotaFish Posted February 4, 2007 Members Posted February 4, 2007 Can anyone recommend a good Walleye guide for a trip around Powersite this time of year? My father and I have fished Bull Shoals for over 40 years so we are familiar with the lake and are pretty good at catching a few bass, white bass and crappie. We are trying to learn how to consistently catch Walleye. We have been doing pretty well trolling for them in the summer, but would really like to learn how to catch them this time of year between Powersite and Swan Creek. We are looking for a guide that specializes in Walleye or better yet Dewayne's Dad to show us how he is catching all of those monster Walleye. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Tightline Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Gotafish, I don't know any Walleye guides in that area. But if you know the lake your on your way.You just need to choose the right lures and be there at the right time, which is real early , real late or at night. They can be caught just about anywhere between the Pothole and Beaver from now till May. If you can catch Whites and Crappie you can catch Walleye,They are not an easy fish to catch, but pick a stile and stick with it till you have confidence. I prefer to throw grubs and jigs because thats what I have confidence in,but most of your bigger fish will be caught on live bait or stick baits. When the water is running Walleye will pick out(certain places)that they like, after a while you'll learn these and it makes it a little easier.I am no WALLEYE EXPERT and probably won't ever be ,because I like to fish for everything. There might be a Walleye guide out of K-dock, not sure. Good luck..........TL
Martin Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 You might check with Lee Brown. He guides at Bull Shoals mainly for walleye. Here's a link to his website. http://www.brownsguideservice.com/index.html I don't know anything about his schedule. You might also ask around on the forum at www.mid-southwalleyes.com
Members Go_Fish Posted February 6, 2007 Members Posted February 6, 2007 Several years ago I fished for a day and half with Buster Loving. I'd fished upper Bull Shoals many times on my own but with so-so luck on walleye. Learned more in a few hours with Buster than I ever could on my own. I believe there's a link to Busters Guide Service on this site.
