Southwest District Office: (417) 895-7600 August 13, 2015 Missouri Route 215 Bridge Over Stockton Lake to CLOSE Week of September 8

Cedar County - The Missouri Route 215 bridge over Stockton Lake south of Stockton in Cedar County will CLOSE to traffic starting Tuesday, September 8, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The bridge will be closed until late May 2016 as contractor crews replace the driving surface or bridge deck.

Drivers should follow the signed detour by taking Missouri Route 39 south at Route 215 (near Stockton) to Dade County Route Y at Arcola, then east on Route Y back to Route 215 to get around the bridge closing.

Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the bridge closing.

The work is being done during the winter months at the request of the community to avoid the busy summer tourism season at Stockton Lake.

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

Project background:

  • Prime Contractor: Lehman Construction Co., California
  • Completion Date: May 27, 2016
  • Total cost: $9.9 million

Thanks for that information. I have been expecting they would resurface the h highway bridge at Ruark because it is a mess. They resurfaced the y highway bridge a year or two ago and it is fine.

Fished out of Roark Bluff today and on the way back to Springfield, took a detour  by Arcola. Stopped at Ken's Kafe. I agree with lundone. Good food and friendly people. Thanks for the information lundone. I will make it a point to stop by there again.
