Al Agnew Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 My brother in law found a big chicken of the woods yesterday, and gave it to us. I'd never eaten it before...it really does taste like chicken...well, slightly like chicken mixed with just a hint of sawdust. Not bad, but needs a bit of doctoring and seasoning to make it really good, instead of simply sauteeing it. Definitely has a chicken-like texture. Chanterelles are still popping now and then around here. We were in Montana for a month, so we're going to go out in the morning and try to find enough for a mess. BilletHead 1
rFisherk Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Our favorite way is to dip them in egg, coat them in flower and deep fry them. Then we dip the fried mushrooms in ranch dressing.
