Has anyone had any success with corps areas around Forsyth? I am contemplating abandoning giving something other than Talbot and Bois D'arc a try this year.

I would guess that none of the fields got planted this year with the high water, so food sources might be is short supply.  I used to live on the bluff that looks out over the Barker Hole, don't ever remember seeing much in the way of doves though.  I usually go to Talbot (usually lots of doves and plenty of hunters).  Also have done OK at Sloan area closer to Lockwood.

In normal pool years do they plant the corp land or rely on natural vegetation? I see it's in the list below, but in past years have they provided a map of their plantings for the area if they plant?

I think I will cave and go to Talbot, like I normally do. It's by far one of my favorite areas along with Bois D'arc but their is just so much hunting pressure I generally only have faith in the rabbit season for Talbot..... I'll have my younger brother with me so we'll most likely be off the planted areas away from most people in hopes of shooting stragglers. Maybe the south side wetland near the train tracks.

Talbot always has doves, sometimes in the sunflowers sometimes in the burned or cut wheat.  Follow the sounds of shooting and you will find the concentration.

Corp field that normally gets planted was/is under water all summer.   The only area or field that gets somewhat managed for dove is kisse mills next to the campground.  Can usually do alright during non flood years but if your used to Boise d arc and talbot you'll be very disappointed.  Birds are hit and miss and scattered no concentration anywhere that i have found .  Hunted Tues Wed Thursday and Fri and have only manged 2 doves and 3 pigeon.  Should of had a few more but not very many around.

thanks for the update....Bois D'arc was a bust today for me. Heard a few people shooting but the cadence died early in the morning. Talbot seemed to do well until 11AM. I've got one more day to hunt it's either Talbot or I'm throwing darts at the map tomorrow.....maybe stockton.....maybe...

I have never done well on the large public areas after opening day.  The birds get scattered, and not nearly asany people to keep them moving around.  Always do better on ponds or small areas after the craziness of opening day.
